The Ryan J. Johnston Memorial Foundation was formed to honor Ryan’s life, love of sports and generous heart by providing scholarships and financial assistance for Amesbury student athletes.

   Ry Guy, as close friends and family called him developed a love of sports when he was very young. Growing up in Amesbury, Ry participated in team sports such as soccer and baseball but was always up for a neighborhood game of basketball, wiffle ball, baseball and competing in running races in the community and with friends and family.

   Ryan continued to participate in soccer, track and football while in high school setting records in the 4 x 100 relay, which he still holds and the 55-meter dash and 100-meter dash for the Amesbury Track Team. Ryan enjoyed competition and was naturally fast and agile. He was one of those kids you wanted to have on your team because he was humble about his athletic prowess and generous with his teammates.

    Ryan was a quiet and sensitive young man, when he spoke, you listened and when he smiled, you felt it.  When Ryan passed away, we knew that we would continue to promote his love of sports and keep his spirit alive by helping other Amesbury athletes and future athletes pursue their love of sports through the Ryan J. Johnston Memorial Foundation.
